JOB PURPOSE:
The Government Relations team at Hoover is the bridge that connects policy makers to the scholarship of our esteemed Hoover fellows. The Government Relations Coordinator has an opportunity to make these connections even more impactful. Working under the general direction of Hoover's Government Relations DC team, the Government Relations Coordinator will use research and organizational skills to manage tracking of government outreach, programs, and contacts and monitor the government/policy landscape of Hoover priorities for strategic opportunities to engage with new and existing congressional and administration contacts.
In addition to being part of a dynamic Media and Government Relations team, the Government Relations Coordinator will also build relationships with Hoover scholars and their teams to most effectively disseminate their scholarship to policy makers.
The position favors applicants who are accountable, proactive, and team-oriented.
CORE DUTIES*:
Assist in the implementation of and support program communication efforts, including timely creation and editing of reports, campaigns, websites, emails, and newsletters in support of government affairs outreach.
Assist with identifying and developing opportunities for partnership.
Monitor upcoming events, seminars, research reports, grant summaries, campus documents, specialized journals, and newsletters for possible dissemination to policy makers.
Assist in the production of content for applicable Hoover priorities; promote scholarship to targeted regional, national, and international policymakers.
Coordinate government relations programs and ensure logistics and preparations are handled for government officials/staff.
ADDITIONAL CORE DUTIES*:
Manage tracking of government outreach, programs and contacts database/records.
Assist in monitoring government/policy landscape of Hoover priorities for strategic opportunities to engage with new and existing congressional and administration audiences.
Assist with logistics for the Congressional Fellowship and other programs.
Event support as needed for campus government and media events.
Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities as needed.
Prepare briefing materials and policy memos for Hoover fellows and leadership.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated planning and/or project management and organizational skills.
Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
Preferred/Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with Federal, State and Local branches of government and relevant organizations. Understanding of state and local policy issues.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with external policymaker audiences and internally with scholars.
Collaborative team player with the ability to diplomatically solve problems and build key relationships.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal communications groups across campus.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a variety of people.
Ability to write and synthesize materials and communicate information in a manner easily understood.
Follow-through and execution skills, with the ability to track timelines, coordinate deliverables, and ensure completion of tasks across stakeholders.
Work in partnership with Hoover media and government relations team to build a network of key contacts.
Familiarity with HubSpot or other CRM platforms.

The expected pay range for this position is $34.58 to $43.66 per hour.
