The Senior Associate Athletic Director, Governance and Regulatory Affairs will have responsibility for supervising all areas of Baylor University's governance and regulatory functions of the athletics department, including: compliance with NCAA and other governing bodies, rules education, monitoring, financial aid, interpretations, investigations and reporting, internal/external compliance audits and additional regulatory requirements. Also serves as a liaison to specific campus committees tied to athletics compliance.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletics Department's Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference, the NCAA and other governing bodies.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree.
4 years of experience in compliance at a Division I institution, at a Division I intercollegiate athletics conference office or at the NCAA headquarters, including management experience.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

Skills and experience with governance applications, word-processing and presentation software, and compliance monitoring systems.
Preferences:
Master's degree or JD preferred.
Seven years of experience working full-time in a compliance-related position in one of the power conferences or at the NCAA headquarters, including 3 years of management experience.

What You Will Do
Comprehensive Oversight of Governance and Regulatory Affairs
Maintain a comprehensive compliance program for student-athletes, athletics staff, University boosters, and campus partners. Collaborate with the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar's Office and the Faculty Athletic Representative to ensure alignment with NCAA, Big 12 Conference and other governing bodies (i.e. College Sports Commission) regulations. Provide daily oversight and direction for the Office of Governance and Regulatory Affairs staff.
Lead the execution of a robust rules education program for varying audiences, including but not limited to, student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators, university personnel, donors and alumni.
Serve as the department's legislative expert, staying current on NCAA, Big 12, Baylor University and other governing bodies rules and regulations. Facilitate the university's position on proposed NCAA legislation in partnership with the President, Athletics Director and Faculty Athletic Representative. Attend and present at regional and national seminars.
Lead investigations and reporting of NCAA and other governing bodies violations and prepare waiver and appeal requests. Serve as a key liaison for appropriate institutional committees. Collaborate with academic leadership on matters of academic integrity.
Collaborate with 19 sport programs to ensure adherence to NCAA and other governing bodies rules and regulations. Oversee compliance monitoring systems related to recruiting activities, contacts, evaluations and campus visits. Provide hands-on support by traveling with high-profile teams as needed.
Serve as primary compliance point-of-contact for the football sport program and assume day-to-day responsibilities for all compliance matters related to football.
Provide accurate interpretations of NCAA, Conference, institutional and other governing bodies rules and regulations, using research and national collaboration. Oversee and guide the governance and regulatory affairs staff's interpretations, maintaining a comprehensive interpretation database to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Provide assistance as needed with department efforts around Title IX, student conduct, risk management, university policies and procedures and other institutional units.
Executive Staff Member
Serve as a member of the department's Executive staff. Offer strategic governance insight in high-level decision making as requested.
