Job Description: The Operations and Information Technology Department at York College of Pennsylvania is pleased to invite applications for a full-time Instructor position in Cybersecurity & Information Technology to begin in August 2025. The position is a recurring annual appointment, renewable subject to college budget and employee performance.
We seek candidates with an interest in teaching a variety of both introductory and upper-level courses in information technology management and cybersecurity. These include a range of courses such as Infowars (CYB100), Introduction to Information Technology (IFS100/105), Emerging Technology Trends (CYB300), Cyber Insecurity Culture (CYB325), Cyber Threat Evolution (CYB375) and/or Project Management (MGT410), for example.
The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with knowledge of industry best practices and current technologies and tools. The Instructor should have a keen interest in teaching undergraduate courses to major, minor and elective students at both the lower and upper levels. Prior teaching at the college level is an advantage. York College of Pennsylvania is a teaching-focused institution seeking applicants with genuine interest in effective and positive student engagement, experiential learning and ongoing scholarly activity. Holding regular office hours, demonstrating an appropriate degree of professional activity (particularly with regard to innovative pedagogy), and attending all college, school and department meetings relevant to the position are expected.
Normal teaching load for a full-time Instructor is 4 courses per semester. Position Outcomes: Instructors plan and guide the learning processes for students toward the achievement of curricular goals and objectives as identified and documented in the course syllabus. Often classes are taught as multiple sections involving co-ordination among an instructional team to maintain consistently. Other responsibilities include:
Employing instructional methods that are most appropriate for meeting course objectives.
Supporting student learning through active classroom engagement and management.
Participating in selecting course materials and designing assessments and assignments.
Maintaining academic standards and reporting any student misconduct per college policies.
Assessing student accomplishment on a regular basis according to department policies and procedures.
Inputting attendance and progress reports (including evaluations, grades, etc.) as required.
Meeting with students to provide remedial assistance; further explanations or issue clarifications.
Orients and maintains current knowledge related to college facilities, policies and procedures.
Keeps the Department Chair informed of all student or academic conduct issues and concerns.
Works with school and department administrators, faculty colleagues, and staff to improve the overall success of their programs measured by student enrollment, student success, retention and graduation.
Serves as a professional role model for other faculty, staff, and students exhibiting collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and general professionalism in their daily conduct
Evaluates weekly assignments in a timely manner. Provides feedback to student on level of performance based on course objectives.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution; and a Master's in either business, information technology or a related field is required. Candidates may present any relevant industry and/or professional designations relevant to teaching in our program if appropriate. Since many of the courses have either an applied industry focus and/or lab component, a range of recent and relevant professional experience in the technology industry is required. These should include job responsibilities and technical knowledge consistent with the course content of likely assigned courses.
