Major Duties
Under direct supervision, the IT Consultant ensures that Physical Plant Management (PPM) technology infrastructure operates efficiently and reliably. You will work hands-on with a wide variety of systems, respond quickly to technical issues, and provide guidance that ensures daily operations are seamless. Collaboration, problem-solving, and customer service are central to this role.
Provides technical support for the PPM community regarding enterprise technology - responds to service requests, troubleshoots challenges, and offers solutions that meet operational needs.
Installs, troubleshoots, and decommissions hardware (e.g., PCs, Macs, tablets, printers) and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat) - ensure equipment and applications are deployed and maintained for optimal performance.
Supports various operating systems such as Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android - delivers responsive support across multiple platforms used by staff.
Configures and manages network tools like SCCM and Jamf - maintain secure and efficient device management systems.
Installs network hardware, such as switches, in telecom racks and patches network connections to endpoints - support the integrity and reliability of network infrastructure.
Assists with specialized applications and hardware such as MetaBIM, CCTV systems, radios, and alarms to ensure critical systems remain functional.
Trains staff on first-tier technology use and develops clear documentation to help users succeed.
Manages inventory and asset documentation so equipment is accounted for and ready when needed.
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
Certification training and applied experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis.
Equivalent to six months of full-time computing experience, which includes knowledge of relevant hardware, software, maintenance, and user support.
Work experience in Technical Support/ Customer Service environment and/or related field, and experience creating and maintaining web pages preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise hardware, software, and operating systems, including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Skilled in installing, troubleshooting, and decommissioning devices and applications, configuring network tools such as SCCM and Jamf, and resolving issues efficiently in both routine and urgent situations.
Strong ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences, both in person and over the phone. Adept at managing multiple service requests, maintaining accurate IT ticketing records, and collaborating effectively with customers, colleagues, and vendors to ensure timely, high-quality support across campus.
Ability to deliver clear, effective technology training through both formal and informal sessions, adapting to different learning styles. Skilled in developing accurate, user-friendly documentation and providing consultative guidance on software and hardware solutions that meet operational needs.
Knowledge of and adherence to organizational policies, safety programs, and regulatory requirements. Proficient in managing inventory and computing assets, maintaining precise records, and ensuring workspaces are prepared for optimal use. Capable of cross-training colleagues and acting as a subject matter expert when needed.

The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4094 - $4830 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4094 - $7881 per month.
HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
