Job Summary: The IT Project Manager III serves as a facilitator for projects led by the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and provides guidance to IT operational managers and project teams across campus. Focuses on best practices for project management on both departmental and enterprise-wide IT projects. Manages larger, more complex, critical IT projects requiring advanced knowledge and demonstrated expertise in project management. Oversees, creates, and implements project plans. Provides feedback and mentorship for other OIT project managers.
Additional Department Summary: The University of Alabama is embarking to transition its on-premises finance and HCM ERP systems to a modern cloud platform. This position is a senior-level IT Project Manager responsible for serving as a liaison and mentor to operational managers and project teams. The IT Project Manager III leads more complex projects that require advanced expertise and a proven track record in project management. This position is time-limited to the duration of the project due to additional department staffing needs while engaged in this project, but could lead to regular employment at the University.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and two (2) years of IT project management experience; OR bachelor's degree and four (4) years of IT project management experience; OR associate's degree and six (6) years of IT experience to include four (4) years of IT project management; OR High school diploma or GED and eight (8) years of IT experience to include four (4) years of IT project management.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education. CAPM or PMP certification. Demonstrated formal project management training.
