Security Coordinator
The Security Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and supervising school buildings and grounds and all security functions both during and after normal school hours. The primary emphasis in this position is to ensure the security of the students, staff, parents and visitors. The Security Coordinator is responsible to keep abreast of new security risks, applicable related laws and related funding opportunities. The Security Coordinator implements and monitors security policies/emergency protocols, procedures and programs; complies with federal, state and local legal regulations; and exercises independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities and other activities as assigned. This position, under the supervision of the Assistant Head of School, will require independent judgment, surveillance skills, and a deep attention to detail.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Protect and assist all persons on CGPS property. Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points
Management of the security and reception staff which includes but is not limited to:
Development of work schedules
Approval of electronic timesheets in Paycom and completion of OT/Additional hour spreadsheet
Consistent review of overtime, making all attempts to reduce overtime if possible
Delegating tasks and special projects
Conducting weekly security meetings
Develop departmental goals and complete annual evaluations for all staff
Provide coverage of all security personnel responsibilities when needed
Maintenance of security staff files; includes licensing, training, resume, certifications etc.
During emergency situation, the Security Coordinator will alert the emergency team, keeping all necessary parties informed and liaising with first responders when needed
Point of contact for all after hour emergencies related to the fire and police departments
Establish working relationship with nearby building management, Police and Fire departments
Submit all paperwork and appropriate documentation for NYS security related grants annually
Consistently monitoring security camera (CCTV) footage to ensure adherence with safety protocols
Assists the Director of HR with recruitment, interviewing and hiring of new security personnel and provides orientation for all new employees of the Security Department
Schedules and conducts all announced and unannounced fire drills for all school buildings in compliance with NYC requirements.
Management of Ruvna system including scheduling drills, confirmation of check in’s (students & faculty/staff) and communication with security staff, faculty & parents
Communicates security and transportation information with faculty & staff, parents and neighborhood residents
Management of student transportation needs including but not limited to:
Managing public & private bus services/vendors
Assigning Omni Cards for eligible students
Booking transportation and additional security if needed for field trips for Grammar & Middle Schools
Manages the parking voucher system for faculty and staff.
Create CGPS ID’s for faculty, staff and parents as well as assign permissions for appropriate locations.
Review of Veracross event requests and manage setup and take down of events
Make written and/or oral recommendations to the Assistant Head of School as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Security Department
Any additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Head or Head of School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All security personnel must be certified or quickly obtain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED at a minimum of every two years
Security Coordinator must hold or quickly obtain a current FDNY F07 Certificate of Fitness (Emergency Drill Conductor)
May need to lift approximately 50 pounds
Ability to operate CCTV (security camera) systems and emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, walkies, etc.
Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
WORK HOURS:
Work 40 hours a week with occasional weekend/evening work as needed
Salaried exempt position
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position will be $100,000 - $120,000 based on completed degree programs and experience.
