Job Summary/Basic Function:
The AVP of Information Technology and CIO is a managerial leader responsible for the strategic direction, oversight, and day-to-day management of the institution’s information technology infrastructure, enterprise-wide systems, cybersecurity operations, and IT teams. This senior administrative position is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and maintenance of all institutional technology assets. This position reports to the Vice President for Administrative Services.
Responsibilities include management of the following: strategic IT planning, enterprise systems and applications, network and data infrastructure, cybersecurity, academic and administrative technology services, help desk and user support, and other responsibilities. WSU’s technology environment serves a student body of over 30,000 and several thousand faculty, staff, and hourly employees across multiple campuses and online learning platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8 years of significant professional experience in an information technology management department or other similar professional management work
- 5 years of leadership experience over technical teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- A record of sound leadership at a senior management level in a large, complex organization
- Strong budgetary experience
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Comprehensive information technology background with knowledge of strategic IT planning, enterprise systems, data security, network operations, and modern technology trends in higher education
