An exciting opportunity exists within our Investigations team for an experienced information and privacy professional to assist the Commissioner in the performance of her legislative mandate.

Reporting to the Director of Investigations, you will be responsible for the following:

• Conducting own motion formal investigations initiated by the Commissioner, including investigations that are urgent, or are a matter of the public interest, ground breaking, high profile, complex, systemic, or cross-jurisdictional involving other commissioners’ offices, and assisting with offence investigations. The work of the team enables the Commissioner to promote and enforce compliance with the Acts by conducting investigations to determine whether any non-compliance has occurred and whether non-compliance may amount to an offence.

• Reporting to the Director on issues and trends concerning non-compliance discovered during investigation and recommend guidance or other compliance support tools that will assist public bodies, custodians or organizations to meet their obligations under the Acts.

• Preparing and publishing public documents including investigation reports, which demonstrate the value of the work performed and issues and trends concerning compliance by public bodies, custodians and organizations subject to the Acts.

This position is responsible for educating and informing the public and public bodies, custodians and organizations about the Acts, which involves identifying issues, potential solutions, and identifying areas to enhance public knowledge about their rights under the Acts.

A University degree in a related field with six years of directed related experience in administering or applying access and privacy laws and related issues, legislative interpretation, administrative fairness principles, and investigation techniques. Equivalencies will be considered.
