POSITION DETAILS
The Instructional Computing and Information Technology (ICIT) Academic Applications Development Director reports directly to the Deputy CIO. ICIT is a service-oriented organization - In support of the college?s Academic Mission and Curriculum, the Director will manage a diverse portfolio which includes leading multiple development and maintenance efforts, managing conflicting requirements, and maintaining a high level of technical expertise among members of their department(s).
In addition to the CUNY HEO Title Overview, specific responsibilities of this position include managing the team(s) in Application Development, and Process Mapping, to enhance the experience and effectiveness of end-users in utilizing technology solutions, including the following:
? Strategically plan application development to align with organization?s goals, ensuring end users have the tools they need to perform their jobs efficiently.
? Engage with faculty and other stakeholders to assess identify technology needs related to academics, administration and research. Keep current with emerging trends in educational technology and practices in light of the College?s academic and administrative objectives.
? Manage the application development teams in design, implementation and on-going maintenance of the Hunter College application portfolio, ensuring alignment with the College?s academic mission. This includes developing and maintaining user and management documentation, collaborating with the faculty and staff on the usage of best practices.
? Oversee support and maintenance for existing applications and systems in use by the College, including vendor provided platforms.
? Guide application development teams in coding and implementing technical designs; ensure the use of standard development tools and other software components as needed; execute unit and system integration tests to validate new or modified code, document issues, and resolve defects.
? Serve as a technical subject matter resource
? Lead implementation of authentication and authorization systems to support the College?s Single Sign-On design and integration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree and eight years? related experience required. The successful candidate will have experience leading projects with multiple small workgroups of application developers through full project lifecycles.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Application development experience and working knowledge of ASP.NET (C#, VB.NET) MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle APEX, Power BI, JavaScript, Angular, AJAX, XML, HTML5 & CSS3
? Has a very strong knowledge of SAML, LDAP, SOAP, Kerberos, Oracle Access manager, Microsoft Identity Manager, Multi Factor Authentication, and Claims-Based Authentication.
? A solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Programming.
? A solid understanding of application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures. (Oracle, MS SQL, PL/SQL)
? Has experience using SharePoint, M365, Source Control Software, Crystal Reporting and PeopleSoft Tools.
? Strong knowledge of Windows servers and desktops; Microsoft 365; Microsoft SQL; information security, IT disaster recovery, virtual desktop computing, SANs, network management tools.
? Familiarity with ITSM and Process Mapping Tools
? Familiarity with Project Management methodology
? Strong interpersonal skills; experience working in a diverse environment and/or with diverse populations.
? Multitask and prioritizes tasks to ensure meeting deadlines.
? Resolves complex problems in area of expertise using web-based research and resources with little or no supervision.
? End users support and training experience.
? Maintains expertise in all areas of job function on an ongoing basis.
? Ensure adherence to performance priorities within established management goals.
