The Assistant/Associate Director for Risk Management is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing the daily activities of the staff, organizing and assisting with ongoing risk management activities, and actively participating in the process in a professional and objective manner. This position is responsible for leadership, administrative, operational, technology, and risk management duties supporting the LSU Health Shreveport administration and departments, and is responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive risk mitigation program.
The Assistant/Associate Director of Risk Management provides risk management consultation or risk management assistance to the LSU Health Shreveport administration and departments. This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer in identifying, assessing, evaluating, and monitoring operational, compliance, reputational, financial, strategic, and other risks affecting LSU Health Shreveport. The assistant/associate director will also provide guidance and advice and participate in providing training to all internal stakeholders to improve their understanding of related laws, policies, procedures, and potential risks.
This position reports to the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer. Regular attendance is required to perform its functions. It is NOT a remote position.
Essential Position Functions & Duties
50% Compliance and Risk Management Operations Leadership
Provide risk management leadership to the LSU Health Shreveport Leadership. Assist the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer in developing and implementing the LSU Health Shreveport strategic vision and plans for the management of LSU Health Shreveport campus-wide risks.
Risk Mitigation: Responsible for creation, implementation, and continuous monitoring of a risk management plan that will identify, assess, and prioritize LSU Health Shreveport’s risks. Represent the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer or department in communication with LSU Health Shreveport leadership and with State, Federal, and other external individuals and organizations. Develop and maintain relationships across campus and with key external partners. Assist with the administration of the department.
Supervise department personnel in achieving institutional and departmental goals and objectives. Monitor laws, regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and best practices; and communicate any updates to the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer and staff regularly.
This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer, in collaboration with administration and departments, in addressing all aspects of compliance and risk management internal and external.
Maintains regular communication with the Chief Compliance and Risk Management Officer.
40% Compliance and Risk Management Processes
Provide risk management consultation or risk assistance to LSU Health Shreveport administration and departments. In collaboration with administration and departments, identify, assess, evaluate, and mitigate or control operational, compliance, reputational, financial, strategic, and other risks affecting LSU Health Shreveport. Collaborates with departments to monitor and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding occupational health, safety, and risk exposure. Ensures the LSU Health Shreveport campus's compliance with occupational safety regulations and risk mitigation policies. Monitor the implementation of the progress of activities to address risks as agreed on and revise risk response as needed.
Research, develop, review, and recommend the implementation of LSU Health Shreveport policies, guidelines, best practices, and recommendations for corrective actions to reduce liability exposure. Provide outreach, education, and training to the LSU Health Shreveport community and other LSU Campuses related to Compliance and Risk Management. Develop and present high-level reports on the risk management programs and data. Keep abreast of, or research, relevant risks, best practices, trends, and laws.
