About CECH-IT
The College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services and Information Technology (CECH) is dedicated to making a difference in our communities through outreach, academic programs, and community partnerships. About The School of Education
The School of Education at the University of Cincinnati seeks to hire a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Elementary (K-8) Science Education. Primary responsibilities align with standard tenure track appointments including teaching and advising, research and scholarship, and service. The position is campus-based, although there are online teaching opportunities. The person in this position will have the opportunity to take a leadership role in shaping the new Elementary (K-8) licensing program, as part of the state?s newly revised licensure structure. Therefore, we seek an applicant who understands and can work across the elementary (K-5) and middle childhood (4-9) grade bands in terms of science content background and age-appropriate pedagogies.
Job Overview
An Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati is expected to teach, conduct research, scholarly and other professional or creative activities. This position will support the University of Cincinnati?s mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff, and all of our activities. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.
Conducting research and scholarship, including applying for external research support
Teaching graduate level courses in areas of expertise, including in online programs
Contributing to continuous assessment and development of licensure program
Advising and teaching doctoral students
Providing service to programs and professional community
Working with community partners
Required Education
An earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Science Education, or a similar field by August 2026.
Required Experience
Appropriate K-8 teaching experience or teaching license in elementary education or middle childhood science education.
A record of, or documented potential for, science education research and scholarship
Additional Qualifications Considered
Preference will be given to applicants with:
A strong commitment to urban teaching and research.
A record of scholarship and/or external funding.
Experience with teaching aligned with the Science of Reading.
Experience working with preservice and/or in-service elementary or middle-grades science teachers.
Ability to integrate appropriate technologies into instruction.
Three or more years of elementary science teaching experience in US public schools.
