The Opportunity:
The Information Technology Computing & Telecommunication Center at Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU Tri-Cities) is dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and staff with their computing and technology needs. Our focus is on both supporting the effective integration of technology into the academic and administrative life of our campus and on keeping campus user technology current and easy to use.
In the IT Network & Telecommunications - Entry role at WSU Tri-Cities, you will provide computer and network troubleshooting and resolution of all problem requests received via trouble tickets, phone calls, and in-person requests from the campus community. Under general guidance, you will troubleshoot end user VoIP phone issues and provide administration of the campus Private Branch Exchange phone system (PBX). Additionally, under supervision, you will determine necessary maintenance for the campus LAN and WAN, identify network disruptions, and resolve them in a timely manner. You will also provide training on use of hardware and software to customers. In addition, you will manage the move, add, change (MAC) process for the campus. Finally, you will help with the IT Help Desk daily activities by providing technical assistance to student help desk technicians. As needed, you will act as part of the campus emergency response team.
Percentage Breakdown of Job Functions:
60% IT Systems Networking, Implementation, and Administration

15% Installation, Maintenance and Documentation

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
This position works on-site on the WSU Tri-Cities campus in Richland WA.
Monthly Salary: $6,068.00 - $8,164.00 | Range 03IT | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in a related technology field plus 2 years of data network and telecommunications support experience
Demonstrated knowledge of documentation systems to include MS Excel, MS Word, and experience with database driven inventory/documentation systems.
Experience in the preparation, termination and testing of Cat5&6 copper cabling, single/multimode fiber.
Demonstrated technical competence in support of wired and wireless networking Services.
Demonstrated outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task with great attention to detail.
Must have, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting VoIP telephone systems.
Professional experience managing large-scale projects.
Technical training and demonstrated working experience with Juniper and Cisco networking electronics supporting high-speed data communication services.
Experience with VPN technologies.
Experience with Microsoft and Apple Products.
Experience with Microsoft, Apple, and Linux Operating Systems.
Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings related to construction of telecommunications infrastructure and pathways.
