This important role will plan and lead direct reports and assigned resources in large risk-based audits and advisory engagements in Virginia Housing programs, operations, financial and technological processes, reporting directly to the Director of Internal Audit. The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for audit execution from the planning phase through the reporting phase and post-audit follow-up, while collaborating with business partners on findings and remediation plans.

To be successful in this role you must possess:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or equivalent technical discipline.
At least 5 years leading audit projects and at least 2 years of people management experience in internal / external audits, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance or related fields.
Hands on experience with evaluating risk and controls, applying best practice internal auditing techniques, methodologies, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards, and regulatory requirements.
In-depth knowledge of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) Internal Control Framework.
Relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP), information system general controls and cybersecurity concepts.
Project management with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
Excellent critical thinking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with internal stakeholders and communicate complex / technical concepts.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Financial services industry experience preferred.
