We are seeking an experiencedInformation Governance Director to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive information governance program.
This individual will play a critical role in ensuring organizational compliance with evolving data protection regulations, managing information lifecycle processes, and supporting company-wide strategic objectives. The role will focus heavily on Records Management and Data Governance, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance and protect the integrity of the company’s information assets.
This position will work closely with the Information and Technology Business Improvement Director and Manager and will report directly to the Operational Services Officer.
Your Role
Establish and champion the vision, mission, and strategy of the Information Governance (IG) program.
Develop and maintain short- and long-term strategic plans in collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
Execute policies for information creation, usage, maintenance, storage, access, preservation, retention, and disposal.
Serve as the subject matter expert for Information Governance, Records and Information Management (RIM), and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM).
Communicate IG program objectives, updates, and performance metrics across all levels of the organization.
Systematically identify and remediate redundant, obsolete, or trivial (ROT) data.
Oversee the company’s records management program and ensure alignment with legal, tax, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Maintain and regularly update the company’s records retention schedule and supporting documentation.
Lead enterprise-wide information-related projects, including those involving data classification, electronic storage, and archival solutions.
Collaborate with IT on the deployment of tools to manage and govern electronic information (e.g., SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
Design and deliver IG-related training and education to staff at all levels.
Partner with Legal, Compliance, and IT to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and internal information security standards.
Advise on recordkeeping capabilities in key systems, including email, cloud storage, and enterprise content management.
Assist Legal and Compliance in litigation readiness, legal holds, and external examinations or audits.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Management, or related field (required).
Preferred certifications include:
Information Governance Professional (IGP)
Certified Information Professional (CIP)
Certified Records Manager (CRM)
5+ years in Information Governance, Records & Information Management (RIM), or related program/project management.
Experience with Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook) and enterprise content management systems.
Strong background in developing and implementing governance frameworks in complex business environments.
In-depth knowledge of information governance, data privacy laws, and compliance standards.
Familiarity with information lifecycle principles, from creation through to secure disposal.
Excellent organizational, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment.
Exceptional communication skills with a talent for translating complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Proven leadership and change management skills with a collaborative and persuasive approach.
Strong documentation and presentation capabilities for executive leadership and internal training purposes.
* this role has a unique hybrid schedule you will only be on site approx 7 weeks a year
