The Airport Security Supervisor is responsible for managing, reviewing, overseeing and participating in the work of staff responsible for airport security, badging and credentialing, and operations functions and activities at the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) during an assigned shift; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and to participates in monitoring and coordinating activities of air carriers, contractors, and other users for compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Minimum requirements must be clearly demonstrated on the application to be considered; however, meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an invitation to compete further in the selection process. Experience requirements must be demonstrated in the "Work Experience" section of the application; other sections of the application will not be used to determine experience qualifications. (One year of work experience is the equivalent of 12 months of full-time work. "Full-time work" means at least 36 hours of work over a period of one week or 1,872 hours of work over a period of at least 12 months.) Qualifications noted as "desirable" or "preferred" are not included as part of the minimum requirements.
Experience
Three (3) years of experience at a Part 139 commercial airport, airline, or military service branch working directly with flight operations, security, or intelligence; or two (2) years in the operations division of Palm Springs International Airport.
One (1) year of supervisory experience is required.
One year of supervisory experience at a Part 139 commercial airport is preferred.
Training:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in aviation safety or security, law enforcement or intelligence or a related field, or equivalent is preferred.
License or Certificates:
Possession of and ability to maintain, an appropriate, valid California driver license, with a satisfactory driving record.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, which is approved through the Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) certification.
Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid C.P.R. Certificate.
Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid First Aid Certificate.
