Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a service point contact between Library staff and the security team.
- Works under the direction of the Library Security Director to assist in the operation of the various components of the library's security program.
- Encompasses the library's security personnel, video surveillance equipment, card access, and intrusion alarms.
- Patrols the building daily to support the Building Operations team in identifying issues.
- Serves as responder for building fire alarms, facilities disasters & medical emergencies.
- Assists in scheduling Temporary Library Security Officers.
- Serves as liaison to Campus Police and administration duties of the library's Security Office.
- Must have the ability to meet and communicate with students, faculty, staff, and the public in a courteous, tactful and effective manner.
- Must be able to effectively communicate university and library expectations to these populations in order to encourage compliance with guidelines, policies, and standards.
Minimum Experience / Education:
High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work. May require valid N.C. driver's license.
University Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work. May require valid N.C. driver's license.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
- 5 years of law enforcement or security related experience and/or has completed Basic Law Enforcement training or an equivalent training experience.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently are essential; also be a vital team player.
- Experience with and ability to utilize de-escalation skills.
- Experience with incident reporting and documentation.
- Previous administrative clerical experience preferred.
- Experience and ability to multi-task and work.
- Experience with chain of command
- Experience with Customer Service.
- Strong attention to details.
