Position Information:
The Director of IT Engineering in Information Technology Solutions will specifically support the UCR School of Medicine and UCR Health. The position will be responsible for helping to define, build, and deliver the technological backbone that powers our higher education and healthcare organization's operations, patient care, and innovation. This role will lead a team of engineers to develop, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and compliant IT systems and solutions that directly support clinical services, administrative functions, and digital health initiatives. The incumbent will help in ensuring all engineering practices and deployed systems adhere to strict healthcare regulations, data privacy standards, and cybersecurity best practices.

This position is classified as hybrid with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.

The full salary range for the Director of Engineering is $111,000 - $214,400 annually. However, the pay scale for this position is up to $165,360 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, UCR is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with Systems Architecture and Development

Typically 2 - 5 years of experience managing an information technology organization.

Experience in assessing, designing and implementing technology solutions specific to medical operations, including managing the technical implicationsof HIPAA and related medical and student regulations and policies.

Extensive experience with health systems and technologies (e.g., EPIC,Nuance, Acuity, MS Fabric, Find Help, etc.)

Experience overseeing reliability, performance, and security of all IT systems, managing the full product/system lifecycle, optimizing processes, and driving automation to enhance efficiency.

Demonstrated skill in managing technical staff.

Experience in the management of ongoing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, to include the identification and integration of suitable emerging technologies.

Thorough knowledge of technical concepts and basic operating principles of data communications, computer hardware, vendor IT products, and software.

Ability to understand the process involved to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied products for use within the technical environment.

Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across the unit or department.

Experience of analyzing buy vs. build procurement for products for effective and efficient technology use.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical topics to individuals and groups with potentially varied levels of technical sophistication.

Strong knowledge and understanding of service delivery principles.
