The Banner Cross-Functional Specialist / Developer is a highly skilled professional responsible for supporting and developing cross-functional business and technical solutions within the Ellucian Banner ERP system, with a primary focus on the Financial Aid and Student modules. This role requires extensive experience in configuration, setup, testing, and troubleshooting across a wide range of Banner functionality. The Specialist will collaborate closely with the Programming & Analytics and Databases & Applications teams to ensure effective delivery and ongoing support of Banner-related initiatives. This position will also support data exchange between Banner Student / Financial Aid modules and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, ensuring accuracy and alignment with institutional goals.

Technical Knowledge/Expertise:
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Ellucian Banner Financial Aid and Student modules, including in-depth understanding of regulatory and institutional requirements.
Responsible for all Financial Aid Banner Admin Pages technical set-up and day-to-day maintenance of related Automic (UC4) Banner jobs.
Lead configuration, setup, and maintenance of cross-functional processes within Banner Student/Financial Aid modules to support business operations, compliance, and academic goals.
Support Financial Aid / Student Affairs offices with aid processing (federal, state, institutional); regulatory reporting (federal, state, institutional); and other enrollment / student finance related processes.
Design and execute functional and regression testing for new releases, upgrades, patches, and custom solutions.
Provide technical and functional support for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems to ensure proper data flow, integration, and alignment with Banner Student/Financial Aid data structures and business processes.
Collaborate with the IT Programming & Analytics team on developing, enhancing, and supporting custom technical solutions, and reporting.
Partner with the IT Databases & Applications team to support data integrity and system performance.
Analyze and troubleshoot system issues, escalate as needed, and ensure timely resolution.
Provide guidance and documentation for end-users, technical staff, and functional stakeholders.
Participate in planning and execution of Banner ERP and CRM upgrades and major projects, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Assist with Financial Aid / Student Affairs Banner training.
Contribute to the development of process improvements, automation, and technology optimization strategies.
Assist with keeping cross-functional stakeholders abreast of on-going work
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working with Ellucian Banner Financial Aid and Student modules in a higher education setting.
Deep understanding of Title IV aid processing, aid year rollover, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
Experience with Ellucian Experience, Banner 9 Admin Pages, Self-Service, Ellucian Saas tools, Automic/Banner Jobs Scheduling Tools.
Experience supporting CRM systems (i.e., Element451, Civitas) in alignment with Banner data and business rules is highly desirable.
Strong proficiency with querying and data validation (i.e. SQL and PL/SQL); understanding of scripting languages (i.e. Javascript).
Ability to write, review, and interpret technical documentation and business process diagrams.
Effective communicator who can work across functional teams, technical teams, and end users.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Knowledge of federal compliance regulations related to Title IV Federal Student Aid, FERPA, and student data.
Competencies:
Experience with related systems such as Degree Works, BDMS, and Insights.
Familiarity with integration platforms and APIs.
Previous involvement in Banner upgrade planning and execution.
Experience with agile development practices and project management tools.
Community college / 2-year public higher-ed sector experience.
