Serves as the institutional liaison between senior administration, other UAB units and all external auditors. Responsible for preparing annual institutional financial statements and coordinating reparation and submission of other financial reports. Drafts management's discussion and analysis of financial statements and reports. Interprets UAB's policies and procedures for auditors and makes accounting entries necessary to complete audits. Responsible for coordinating preparation and ensuring that the institution meets required submission dates for financial related reports to outside agencies and/or entities. Uses standard business software in performance of job duties such as Microsoft Office along with other computer systems and applications deemed appropriate by the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Acts as primary liaison between UAB senior administration, internal departments, and external auditors.

2. Prepares annual institutional financial statements and ensures accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.

3. Coordinates the preparation and timely submission of various required financial reports to external agencies and entities.

4. Supervises and manages staff to include setting workload, schedules, evaluating, training and disciplining if necessary.

5. Interprets UAB financial policies and procedures for external auditors and facilitates audit processes.

6. Makes necessary accounting entries to support completion of audits and financial reporting.

7. Utilizes standard business software, including Microsoft Office and department-specific applications, to perform job functions efficiently.
